The lyrics of the songs will intentionally cover only in the form of allusions to specific events in the history of Ukraine (in the form of sounds, terms and slogans, familiar everyday situations), which will become an important study of the state and feelings of family members in a specific historical period of time.
The main role in the creation of the album is played by the tool of its conceptual form – dementia. It is important to note that the form of dementia will be used specifically as an instrument of the form, not the theme of the album. It’s as if the lyrics and musical sequence ended up in the head of the film’s hero, Florian Zeller, who wanders endlessly in his own head in search of real memories.
The choice of such a form for the project is not an artistic accident, but rather a necessary reflection, since one of the senior members of the family of authors-musicians of the band has been suffering from dementia for quite a long time. Accordingly, the stage of creating texts will take on the format of documentary research.
“Memory” is a story of a family and a place on a national scale, through the lens of the protagonist’s mutilated memories.In total, the album will contain 11 author’s tracks-memories without constant and consistent preservation of the chronology of personal life and historical events. The first track, which will open the album, will resemble a conversation with a doctor (psychotherapist): a stream of consciousness, an attempt to convey a person’s inner experiences and memories. The opening composition will encompass the entire history and concept of the album, and will become a side plot of all subsequent musical compositions. Some of the texts will be “spoken” on behalf of the hero, some, as if losing self-awareness, on behalf of other people, or in general – abstractly and impersonally. The themes of the compositions are just as chaotic in their sequence: family – aging – first love – childhood – childhood – loss. In successful attempts to break out of the vortex of thoughts, the doctor’s voice will appear again.
The album will combine several musical eras – modernism, impressionism, postmodernism. In these musical styles, there are no “template” constructions of the melody, there is a chromaticism that is not typical for popular music, and it does not correspond to the standard ideas about natural modes in European pop music. The main idea is to achieve a unique sound, musical harmony, by mixing academic musical instruments and rules with electronic and non-traditional music. That is why another goal of the project is the popularization of new, atypical (non-commercial) styles in music for Ukrainian listeners – musical modernism in pop music.
The mixing of academic and electronic music in one album is relevant for the Ukrainian audience, therefore, for a better perception of such musical harmony by the mass listener, “simple musical markers” are created, by which such unusual musical turns can be more easily perceived. For example, the band practically does not play in non-traditional or “broken” musical tempos.
